The Tynemouth Unit (The Coast)

The Coast Unit is based at the 6th.HQ at Manor Road Tynemouth beside the Holy Saviour's Roundabout. The Unit has formal Partnership Agreements with both the 6th. and the 19th, but has received Scouts from a total of seven Troops in the District.
The Unit has a strong emphasis on outdoor activities including, hiking, camping and ski-ing. The year is always planned toward a major expedition in the summer holidays, the aim being to go abroad every two years; recent trips having been to Prague and Kandersteg. Unit members have also been to recent events in Iceland and Uganda.
We have recently carried out extensive work to our meeting room as we'd outgrown it due to a growth in numbers. In front of almost 100 guests it was officially opened by two long-serving members of the Scouts and Guides at Holy Saviour's, Doug Brennan and Dorothy Smith. Doug also unveiled our Roll of Honour of Queen's Scouts, 12 of the holders of the Award being present. It is now officially known as "The Priory Room." Meetings are held every Wednesday at 7.00,  but check what we're doing before you call in as more ofter than not we're "out and about".

Forth coming events:

  • Friday May 28th - Sunday May 31st - County Medieval Marra camp, Beanley.
  • Sunday July 25th - Sunday August 1st - Summer Camp.

On 23rd. January the Explorers ran a bottle tombola as part of a fund-raising coffee morning towards the Haitian Earthquake appeal. The wonderful total of £2,070 was raised. Thanks to all for the generous support that made this possible.
